Title: Bug Report - DIR-615 DHCP Range ARP Scan
Post by: ITW on September 05, 2010, 01:21:58 AM
Even with the DHCP Server disabled, the DIR-615 performs ARP requests for the entire DHCP pool range every three minutes.

Seen on Hardware Version: C1 Firmware Version: 3.12NA

Not a big deal but the scan caught my attention while I was in Wireshark.

Has anyone found a solution to turn off arp scanning?

I had a past experience with arp scans that disabled wireless connectivity.
It was arp scans originating from a computer that went to a wireless router plugged only on the lan side ( main router and dhcp server were on another location) Then after few hours of the scans started, there was no communication between the lan side and the wireless side.  The wireless router was a Dlink DI-524 ...

I have a DI-615 with HW: C1 with 3.12NA right now and seem to have the same simptoms...
(On an different network than di-524 problem)

I was thinking that the "internal" switch inside the router that "routes" packets by their mac address to the wireless side may have a buffer full or something... and stops transfering packets to the wireless radio... until reboot.

I'm only debugging, so if anyone has found a way to disable the arp scans of the DI-615, i could confirm my theory.

Thanks.
