Title: DNS-323 with 2TB
Post by: kewl2000 on September 10, 2010, 11:29:07 AM
Hi,
I have the DNS-323 with two 1TB Hdd's in Raid1.
I want to upgrade to 2TB x two drives.
I purchased this box in India and the indian site has firmware 1.06 only, but the American site has till 1.08. The american site says upgrade only for products sold there.
Can i still upgrade my box with 1.08 or should i wait till its on the indian site.

Thanks

Hi, I don't know whether you resolved your query but, as you have no replies, I can help...

You can upgrade to firmware v.1.08 from any site but should go to the DLink download site for a clean firmware file.

Version 1.08 has some positive enhancements...

- Support 2TB HDD
- Support Scandisk
- Support System Logging/FTP Logging
- Support Yahoo! Widget
- Support EXT3 file system
- Support NFS Server
- Support more Email Alert events
- Supports possible problems with 94% hang (can hang at 99% if you have incompatible drives).

When you download the file also download the release notes for all the amendments.

It is also important to note that certain drives will not work in your DLink NAS. Drives with 4K Sectoring should be avoided unless you know what you are doing. There are many posts on this forum about this issue...just search Western Digital.

Hope this helps.

- Support System Logging/FTP Logging

Where's FTP logging? With FW 1.08 this box runs pure-ftpd but I cannot find any ftp.log anywhere on the system.

- Support NFS Server

This (using the official add-on) seems to be fairly unstable from my point of view. One time the files on the nas are perfectly accessible on nfs-mount and just a second later they are not, even 'ls' gives me missing files/dirs, and then all of a sudden they reappear... This NFS server is of no productive use.:(
