My router just turned off last night, and now will not power on.  I'm guessing its dead, but is there anything I can try before I throw it away?

Your router is fine, I bet its the power supply.  Mine just died Sat. and I took it too Radio Shack to test it with their generic replacement.  It works, but the problem is theirs part is $40.  So I'm looking online for a better part.  this part is 5v 2.5 amp.

I just registered to look for info on replacement power supplies.

I found this unit for replacement....

I have to verify the plug dia. length tonight.

also, before my unit went dead, I was seeing the connection drop randomly.  this is a symptom of the dieing PS.

My adapter [wall wart] also died on me. D-Link is one of my favorites, but they need to do some work on their adapters. I must say, I was happy that the router was ok and it was only the power adapter.

My 3.5 year old 4300 power brick died just a few days ago (11/6). No warning, no smell, just boom! No connection.

Fortunately I still have my old 4100 which I'm not using at the moment, and that 5.5 year old power brick still works.
