Title: Is it possible to measure files transfer speed between the PC and DNS-321 v?
Post by: pwanghk on September 14, 2010, 02:29:15 PM
Greetings:

My PC has Gbit port. The PC and DNS-321 are hooked up to DIR-655.  Is it possible to measure, as accureatly as possible, files transfer speed between the PC and the DNS-321 via the DIR-655?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

No, that is not possible. You could just upload a file and see the transfer speed....

The way I did is copy video folder with VOB files of known size to the DNS-321 via router, reverse the process, then divide the files size to the time it took.  Is this any good and the only way?

I think so. You will not get accurate readings since other factors also count, such as file size, fragmentation on HDD (read & write) etc.
