Title: Drive Activity & Access
Post by: Clayton on September 17, 2010, 10:17:01 AM
I am still stumped as to why my right hand drive is always flashing slowly with disk activity.
It still happens with the network cable unplugged. The only way to stop it is to restart the unit until it happens again.
Also on the topic of restarting the until, everytime I do this, I can not access the unit, it doesn't show up in Network also going to Start/Run and typing \\DNS-323\Volume_1 it says Network Error, the network path was not found.
I have to go into Advanced\Network Access then modifythe setttings under the SMB list and hit modify settings and away I go.
Please can someone shed some light on this, it's beginng to drive me crazy

I think I'd be tempted to pull that drive and run the manufacturer's diagnostic scan on it.

Someone has reported a similar issue here before I think? Could only access after re-saving network settings. Did you try a factory reset? As for the right drive, that's usually Volume_1 (always?) where funplug would run from if installed. And probably other things like spooler, torrents etc.

No spooler, fanplug or torrents installed
If I do a factory reset will I lose anything? as my drives are RAID1

A factory reset should not affect the data.  I've done it several times using a RAID-1 configuration, no problems.
