I recently upgraded my DNS-323 from 1.06 to 1.08 firmware, and since the upgrade, every time it restarts it reports that one of the hard drives has been removed, the RAID has degraded and I need to rebuild it. Rebuilding it works every time, and a scan disk reports no problems, but the next time I restart it it's the same thing.
I have another DNS-323, also running 1.08, this one flashed from 1.07, where everything works like it should. Since the drives seem to be okay, I'm guessing it's either the hardware or the software of the NAS itself. Is this a known problem, and does anyone know what I can do about it?

Did you do a factory reset after the firmware upgrade? Read my signatue :)

I haven't. If it's just this, I will be happy :D Will this require a reformat, though? My backups might need a little update.

You will have to reconfigure from scratch but it will not erase the drives.
Sounds like maybe you have a bad HDD though. If the reset doesn't resolve it, I'd suggest running diagnostics on the drive.

As I said in my first post, I have run the disk scanner, and it reports no problems. Neither does rebuilding the RAID. I'll try the factory reset thing, hopefully that'll be it.

The factory reset seems to have done the trick. Thanks!
