Title: Wireless N standard implementation..
Post by: kanehi on September 23, 2010, 10:42:52 PM
The wireless N standard was approved last year so why hasn't dLink updated the firmware to the so called standard?  It would be nice to finally have a consistent connection.

Any of the wireless devices that met the "Draft 2.0" requirements were deemed to be compliant with the final standard.   The 655 was one of these so it is "Final Spec" compliant.

And...being N compliant has nothing to do with consistent connections.

Connections will vary in speed and signal strength. One thing good about the DIR-655 you can change out the SMA ANT shown below it what I did. So now instead of have 3x 2dBi = 6dBi it's 3x 5dBi = 15dBi. Range and signal strength has increase by 20% giving me 90 to 100% signal strength.

Hello, nice setup there, but why use the 5 dBi antennas when Dlink has 7 dBi antennas?

I have downgraded/upgraded my router countless times when testing different things and I wonder why...

Why the hell do you have all this unplug, reset, unplug, etc. in your downgrade instructions?

Why do you even have to load 1.21 firmware?

All I have ever done is load the RU firmware, let router reboot then load the 1.11 firmware without any resets, unplugging.
