so decided to try driveclone pro, which came w/ the dns-321.
1. gave a password - verified several times after logging into windows.
2. try to access driveclone pro BEFORE windows boots - not able to log into drive clone pro, says invalid password.
and yes, i have checked that caps lock and all that good stuff isn't on - i typed it one key at a time, still no workie.
called dlink customer support - they called me back in 2 hours, then tell me they don't support "trialware" that comes w/ the dns-321. thanks, really helpful dlink.
in contrast, i have a seagate blackarmor NAS, that cam w/ Acrnois True Image, and have never had an issue.
So to sum up, I'll never integrate Driveclone Pro into any network I build, and Dlink is dwindling on my list too.

Apparently, the version of DriveClone that ships with the box is pretty poor, there have been threads here about getting an update. Personally, I never put that disk in my machine, I have better backup solutions.

oh really? i didn't see anyone, so i wanted to make sure i shared my experience.
can you provide me w/ some of your backup implementations?
i've only used acronis true image myself, and loved it.
maybe dlink should ship a copy of that w/ the dns-32x's instead.

I use Acronis True Image myself, and for data backups and folder sync, I use Beyond Compare and Cobian Backup in those roles.

Now are you using these to backup a local machine to the NAS, or are you backing up one NAS drive to the other NAS drive?
Thanks!
