To those of you that use Trend Micro Security Software:
I have used Trend Micro for many years. Excellent products. NOW, they have "upgraded" their products to what they call "Titanium" editions. If you "upgrade" your Trend Micro Internet Security to Titanium you will lose your customization facility and all the features that expert geeks such as there are on this Board would find essential. Titanium is a "one size fits all," amateurish, security system where you get to use their preferred settings, not yours.
Do NOT avail yourself of the "upgrade" to Titanium unless you want a security system that you don't wish to control, override or customize the features and firewall settings. It is strictly for non-technos who want to be worry-free, and intervention free.

Hmmm, how about posting this in a general thread instead of this 655 one ???

Yep, I have used Trend Micro since the Windows 98 days. Not pleased with the "Titanium" version. If I had known what they were changing to, I would probably not have renewed my subscription. While it still does work just fine, I like having the console to adjust my settings.

If this topic is out-of-bounds, report the thread to the moderator and he can move it and/or delete it. I have an attachment to the people on the 655, not the world at large. They can save themselves a headache by knowing this information before the expiration of their software.

Thanks for the heads up marmoduke!

"Report to moderator"? Give me a break ;D

Trend Micro is not very good protection.
The last Retrospective/Proactive Test by AV-Comparatives in May ranked Trend 13th of the 15 AV products tested.
Even some free AV products did better than Trend. :o

Hey Cobra. Thanks for the info. I have heard it before. I will not be renewing with TM because of the "upgrade" being a severe "downgrade." I used to have Computer Associates, but they hassled me about everything and the service was terrible.
I used to live and work in Silicon Valley and all the biotech companies used Trend Micro so I switched many years ago. I have had no issues, service horrors, invasions etc of any kind. My friends who use Symantec and McAfee are always reformatting ther drives or crying for help. Not interested in the freebies at all. I am (was) quite satisfied with the TM. I think it was given a bum rap. For me, personal experience trumps magazine articles (who often get payoffs for their results).
Best Regards to you.
