Title: Trying to register the 90 day trial license
Post by: vagastorm on October 05, 2010, 09:30:44 AM
I'm trying to register the 90 day idp license in my dfl-800, but it either says it cant connect to license server, or it just keeps refreshing the "Please wait while the firewall is contacting the license servers. This might take up to 1 minute. " message.

Are you and your firewall registered at security.dlink.com.tw?

As long as you show your FWs MAC under your account, are online with the FW, and you are using the latest firmware from the same site, that button should work for you now.

Is it important that it's the latest firmware? I have the second to last, which has been working, and it dosent say anything about securety issues with the lastest one.

Unless thers securety issues or features I need, I dont change the fw since I dont have a spare unit for testing.

I've upgraded the firmware to the latest version, but to no luck. Are there any ports in particular that need to be open in order for this to work?

I honestly don't know what ports this would use, as this will happen regardless of the IP rules on the FW itself, though it's routing table can still be a bother, I suspect it is just 443, but I can take a look into this for you.

Hello, I'm having the same trouble here with a DFL-260. I did register the MAC correctly on September 25  When I log in at https://security.dlink.com.tw/member_status.asp  serial and mac are correct.  I have been trying to activate the ISP trial but I only get the "Please wait while the firewall is contacting the license servers. This might take up to 1 minute" and this keeps refreshing every 5 seconds and it goes and goes 'till I close it after 15 minutes.

Would it be everything ok with the license servers? or some info on port numbers or something?

Thank you.

just one other thing I noticed, the mac adress on the stikker, wich I entered when I registered the unit, is not on the wan1 which is used to connect to the internet, but to the lan device, which is not in use.

As you should know, DFL need to have set up some dns servers on the system/dns to be able to resolve some dns name hardcoded on the utm firmware.

So if you do not set up with proper dns servers then you will have this mesage even if the firewall is correctly registered to the security portal.

The othe alternative is that the server is down, which I doubt.

Thanx, thats it. I was'nt using the dns in the device, and hadent added any. Adding em fixed the issue.
