Title: 655 Kills my internet?
Post by: ShawnTRD2 on October 13, 2010, 07:10:55 PM
Ok I stopped using the 655 for over a year. I decide to give it a try again last week. So far it's been working ok. But we have seen worse then normal loading times on youtube, facebook, and our Vonage phone has been cutting out again. I'm 90% sure it's the 655. But before I go back to my WRT54GS what can I try? All I did is uopdate to 1.34NA, set my Mac Address (had the router read it) and run the wireless wizard. I live deep in the country so I don't need much protection. I'm not to worried about someone hacking me.

Why would you need to use MAC address?

Normally when going from a connection without a router to one with a router all you have to do is powercycle the modem which will pickup the new MAC of the router.

As for using the wizard....probably part of your problem.

Regarding your Vonage..,
uncheck SIP on advanced firewall setup

Other issues:
What does your log say?
