Title: Remote access = help
Post by: fgl30 on April 07, 2008, 06:21:37 AM
I´m trying to get access to my PC remotely, but I need help. Something is not working here

1) I made DHCP reservation (192.168.0.199)
2) I made port forward (IP 192.168.0.199, ports 3389, traffic ANY)
3) In my free DynDNS.org host configuration I tryed with both IP´s: 192.168.0.199 and the one my ISP provide me at that moment 200.243.216.3

Where´s my error, please? Thx

I take it you have already enabled remote on your computer. Try disabling any anti-virus or firewalls you might have on your computer.

Have you tried telneting the port 3389? (e.g. telnet 'your public ip address' 3389. So telnet 89.x.x.x 3389) If you are viewing the blank screen and the cursor is blinking, port 3389 is properly enabled and forwarded to be used. Make sure that you are not running any software firewalls as those would also interfere with the setup of the network. What I would suggest is upgrading the firmware. If you still have a problem using the remote access, try modifying the remote access port from the Windows registry to some other number. Sometimes, depends on the ISP, they blocks certain ports so they can prevent the intrusions.
