Title: DNS-321 turns itself off
Post by: Somebodyelse on October 19, 2010, 09:39:33 PM
Every couple of days the unit turns itself off.  What could cause this and what can I do about it?

It could be your power, the power supply, or the NAS.

I'd start by doing a factory reset and manual reconfig, just to make sure that's not the issue.

As for power drops, I run all my NAS boxes on UPS to avoid power spikes causing issues.

Isn't it also designed to switch off over a predefined temperature as set in the web admin?

Only if you enable that option.  I guess if it gets hot enough, it'll also "switch off", but that may be a permanent situation! :D

On the Email Alerts Page:

[] System Temperature Has Exceeded xx °C

Enabling this feature will cause the DNS-321 to shut down after the selected temperature is exceeded and an e-mail is sent.
