Title: Is it possible to upgrade firmware with no disks installed
Post by: moggsajt on October 21, 2010, 03:03:04 AM
Hi,

I recently purchased a DNS-323 NAS.

Is it possible to upgrade firmware with no disks installed? Or should i install the disks and then upgrade the firmware.

Absolutely.

In fact, it is a great (and necessary) idea for a new purchase as the newer firmware may be required to support the larger drives.

It actually depends on what version of the firmware you're at - early versions didn't allow it.

With a "recently purchased" unit, it is most likely it will not be an issue but it is good to be aware just in case.

The unit I got had the 1.0/8 firmware which is the latest one for the Swedish (EU) market.

So forth I am happy with it.
