Title: Multiple problem with dir-655 1.34NA
Post by: SISO on October 31, 2010, 08:06:13 PM
Problem 1
My wireless restart from multiple times a day to sometime once a week or even month. The reason I know it restart is because whenever it does my wireless ssid changes from "SSMK" to "SSMK€". The € in the SSID shows up as a black triangle with a ? "" in my browser and € in windows 7. This has been the case with multiple firmware and countless hard resets.

Problem 2
My wireless restart for no apparent reason

Problem 3
"Name cannot be empty string" when i try to set up ACCESS CONTROL.

CAn any body help resolve the problem I listed with the most important one being problem 1?

Solution #3....Make a rule!!  Follow this:

Solutions 1&2.  Not really enough info, no log data etc.
So, generally, do not use auto channel selection...lock onto your own channel using InSSIDer software to find the best prospects.

If your workstation is far from the router, read up on the ways to increase signal.  If your workstation is close to the router, reduce transmission power in Advanced Wireless as signal may be distorted.  Read many other threads on the subject regarding devices, phones, etc.

For your question #1:  Check and change the router's login password adn check and change the the wireless SSID passphrase.  Check of any "malware" / virus infection as the wireless SSID should never change by itself.  Your router is being accessed by someone / something and changing it.
