Let me start off by saying I purchased this router as a replacement after our old router(WRT-610n) met its demised from a lighting strike. So after purchasing this item from www.bestbuy.com (cause the stores don't carry it in stock) when I received the unit in the mail I was so excited. On the box it stated "LAG IS NO LONGER AN EXCUSE". After a few fours of using this router my expectations was crushed, of course there was no lag so its not an excuse anymore, but router rebooting is an excuse. We have the total of 5 (3 desktop and 2 laptops) The desktops are hooked up on wired connection and 2 laptops are wireless. After a few hours of using this router it was going good. Then as soon as more people get on the other computers used the internet the router would reboot. So I've checked the d-link website and noticed there was a firmware update so i checked the router's firmware and it was 1.22NA so I download the new firmware and updated the router to 1.23NA. So after reconfiguring router and the wireless settings we started using like normal. Then again the router reboots. After days of this bull happening I called d-link. I told them our ISP and how many computers are connected. The tech support person told me to change the MTU from 1500 to 1450. Which didn't do Sh!t. The next day, I was so furious i took the router to the nearest bestbuy store and returned the unit. Paying $199.99 for a P.O.S that doesn't work. GOOD RIDDANCE! FYI, I bought the Linksys E3000 after I got my refund. Way better router than the DGL-4500

Hope you have better luck. We enjoy our 4500s. Sorry you didn't contact here to give us a chance to help. Had many opportunities to help others with great success. Sorry yours wasn't. There are many configuration issues that can arise from using a router. Yes it should work out of the box great however this router and other OEM router can have issues with other devices online. Mainly if you have a DSL modem with built in router. Having to 2 routers on the same line can introduce issues. Cable modems don't have this issue however have seen signal line issues and line splitter issues for cable. Sometimes it's in the configuration of the router. I have 15 devices on my 4500, several wireless. Enjoy it greatly on wired and wireless. Gaming is the best and won't use anything else for gaming.
Sorry you had a bad experience. Before you return the next one if you do, get on the forums and ask for help or see what others are doing. Sometimes the extra features that comes with routers are not enabled or turned on out of the box.
All avenues should be investigated before the last resort. Hope you find a better place.

Aww No! we lost a person! :( "crys" as furry said you should have given it more chances! The router is indeed great and powerful. It has done wonders for me and it probably would have done for you. We probably could have found a solution for your issues.

No piece of equipment can improve the ability of the user. It was your router, so there for your responsibility to know how to use it. I have no pity for you. I can only help those that want to help themselves. Thank you for bringing back your D-link so you may be gone from this forum. Good-bye.
