Title: DIR 655 firmware 1.21 and shareport
Post by: lip on November 14, 2010, 10:05:33 AM
Hi,
I had the latest DIR 655 firmware but it was giving me all sorts of problems so I had to go back to 1.21 firmware and all is well...EXCEPT for the fact that shareport (version 3) software no longer sees my printers.

I get the "no device servers" error...

I'm assuming it is not working because of the old firmware I have...does anyone have a link to the old software versions of shareport?

Thanks.
LIP

Have a look here:
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Apps/ (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Apps/)

Go to ftp://ftp.dlink.com then click Gateway, the dir655, then click Apps. The link doesn't work because the forum software adds http:// to the front of it. I tried to edit it out but it keeps adding it back in.

I too could not connect to shareport printer with a new laptop running win 7 64b & shareport 3.0 ,       DIR-655 A4 f/w 1.21  "No device servers" error. My two other machines running XP 32b had no problem using shareport v 1.14. Somewhere on these forums it was  suggested shareport version 1.17 worked with Win 7 . So I googled it, selected this page http://dlinkedrouter.org/2010/07/18/shareport-1-17-for-windows/  , downloaded it , deleted version 3.0 , installed v1.17 ,  printer was found and recognized instantly and printing is perfect.. After pulling my hair out and thinking about this problem for four months, I found the solution simply through someone elses success so I just wanted to add my two cents. Hope this helps one of the many who are experiencing this problem.
