Hello,
Maybe here someone has the answer. Sins a few months i have a fiber connection of 100Mbit. Sins then if i download or upload from/ to usenet on full speed, the connection is lost. The only thing that helps is to reset the router. Strange thing of all is that before i reset my router my ip adres is changed from 192.168.0.199 to 169.254.227.158?
I tried every new firmware that i could find. Current firmware version is FW134EUb05
I returned my router for RMA and already received 5 new routers and still the same problem. I search the internet and i found allot of the same problems. Seems like a connection above 11.1MB/s is a problem.
*Here* (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=14877.0) i also made a post but no results. I replaced everything even a new network adapter. (D-Link DGE530T) Even this don't solved the problem.
Is this a known issue or has someone the solution? It really driving me nuts.
Thanks for the help.
Edit: I forgot to tell that i only use wired connection.
and the HW version is A5.

The 169 address means its not getting a DHCP address.
Is the router itself getting an address from your ISP, you may have to check what the proper settings should be for that first, then check to see if you have configured you DHCP on the Router.

That i don't know becourse i can't get into the router. If i go to 192.168.0.1 the page is loading but nothing happens.
Also tried to ping the router but won't work.
I did not changed anything about the DHCP settings.
I have as a test connected my pc to my modem without the router and had no problems at all.
I forgot the mention that when the internet goes down, I go to the Troubleshooter and repair the Network adapter and its finds that the "default gateway is not available"

Hi Darkling,
Are you remembering to remove Power from the Cable Modem for one minute and reapply power after switching where you have the Cable Modem's Ethernet Cable that goes between the Cable Modem and the Router. I don't think that the Cable Modem and Router are properly sync'ed to each other. Therefore it is giving you problems.
-
Try the reset button on the back to set the router back to Factory Defaults. You should be able to get into after that, if you can't get into the setup portion then you may have a defective unit.
-
If i reset the router to default settings or remove the power cable for a minute everything is working ok again.
The problem only apears if my download/upload is going above the 11MB/s. Now i have capped my speed on 90Mbit and have no problems at all. Coult it still be a syncing problem? The problems started after i had a fiber connection. I can't use my full connection.
@thecreator: What is the right way to reboot the modem and router? My English is sometimes really bad and i don't understand what you mean.
Maybe you want to see some settings if there are alright? I did not changed anything in the settings. The only thing i changed were the password, QQs and set OpenDNS.
Edit: Sometimes i have a week no problems and then it starting again. The problem is bigger by the upload speed than the download.

Hi Darkling,
You stated that you removed the Ethernet Cable from the D-Link and tested a direct connection from the Modem, bypassing the D-Link Router.
On some Cable Modems, you must remove the Power from the Cable Modem after switching the Ethernet Cable from one Device to another device.
Is your FIOS Modem also a Router?
In the United States, I have Verizon FIOS and they have a ActionTec Router in place of a Cable Modem. It has a Coaxial Connector.
If I need to reboot both Routers, I simply turn off the Power Strip, wait one minute and turn on again.
Computers with Static IP Addresses assigned by the Router, do not need to be rebooted. Only Dynamic IP Addresses will need to be rebooted.

Ok, i understand what you mean. Here in Holland i have a modem looks like this
(http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7870/1219823429130.jpg)
It has no router function. Port 1,2 or 3 is for the internet (it is just one of the 3 not all three) and port 4 is for IPTV.
If i connect a devise whit another MAC adres my internet is blockt. First i must 10 minutes disable the power of the modem, after that i must wait for one hour till i can connect the CAT6 cable between the modem and D-Link. (my provider says it take one hour to delete the mac adres)
Today no problem at all. Sometimes it take a week before the problems begins.

Set the WAN port speed to 100 or 10. WAN port set to AUTO can cause problems sometimes.

I set it to 1000 Mbps. Becourse my downloadspeed is just above 100Mbit. I think it is ok to?
Edit: Won't solve the problem. After 15 minutes full speed uploading the conection is lost again.
When the problem exist:
(http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/891/opslaan.th.jpg) (http://img20.imageshack.us/i/opslaan.jpg/)
After router reset:
(http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/6338/opslaan1.th.jpg) (http://img816.imageshack.us/i/opslaan1.jpg/)
The standard gateway adres is gone too. Maybe that is the problem?
Another edit: I can reproduce the problem simple disable the DHCP server (see screen) in the router and the adapter message is exactly as the first screenshot. So how do i solve that problem?

Leg het even uit in het Nederlands, dat is wat makkelijker voor je denk ik.

Hi Darkling,
The problem might be that the place you are uploading to, is too fast than it can handle, causing you to lose the Internet. Set it to Auto. Don't lock it to a specific speed.
Try it on Auto and see what happens.

Hoi EddieZ,
@thecreator: Also tried that. I upload to usenet and the problem only appears if i come above 11MB/s.

Hi Darkling,
Could the site you are uploading to, be having problems?
-
No, i upload to a newsserver and have tried different servers. The program i use for uploading is Camelsystem powerpost.
Whit older firmware i had also problems whit downloading above 11MB/s, but sins the latest firmware is this issue gone. I hope they will fix the upload problem too. It's getting very annoying.
Is there a way to report a bug?

Hi Darkling,
To report a bug, I don't know. If you contact directly to the Modem from the Computer, do you have the problem, uploading?
If the answer is no, then tell D-Link about this problem. Try calling them.

Without the router everything is working fine.
I just made a case whit my problems via D-Link Self-Service. Hopefully they will answer me soon.
Thanks for the help so far.

Hi Darkling,
You're welcome. How new or old is this Router? Can you take the Router back, if they can't get it working for you?
-
I bought it in April this year but they already switch it 5 times. ;)
Edit: I just make a new RMA see what happens today. ;D

Hi Darkling,
Maybe, you should make a suggestion that they send out a Technician to your home and see for themselves what is going on. Then maybe, by seeing first hand, what is going on, they can fix it finally.
-
A have made the suggestion to switch the DIR-655 for the DIR-855. Than i only need to pay €50,- extra. It is cheaper than buy me a new router. If they won't do this than i don't know what to do yet. than the only thing i can do is wait till the support of D-Link is responding. >:(
If you search the internet about this problem you read allot but no solution. Search for the same problem for the 855 and din't find one. ;) So lets hope it is ok.
Edit: Received an email that the support will phone me in 1 or 2 days to discuss the problem.

That's like waiting for hell to freeze over ;D
(I don't blame them, the tech's trip alone will cost more than a new router)

Ok, the DIR-655 is back to the store and now i have the DIR-855. Hopefully this solves my problem.
Thanks for helping.
Edit: I just want you guys to know that till now i up and download allot full speed without problems. ;D
Looks like case closed.
