Hi,
I have 6 DES-1228 switches connected together via fibre uplinks. I want to create 2 VLANs, one for guest access, and the other for the business.
I have an ADSL router plugged into Port 1 on switch 1 and wish to make the internet available to both VLANs, but not allow each VLAN to see each other. Each switch (1,2,3,4,5,6) will need to have both VLANs on them.
Each time I try to set it up, on eof the VLANs gets disconnected for the internet. Any help would be much appreciated.
TIA Graeme.

best solution will be to have router support 802.1Q feature.
The alternate solution will be to use asymetric vlan feature on DES. But be carefull for the configuration that will not be so easy.

Thanks for your reply.
i finally got it working, with much head scratching, and came up with the same solution as you.
Unfortunately the router was supplied by a third party, and I had to mention the issues to them and so it was changed to one with VLAN support.
Cheers,
Graeme.
