Why is the DHCP Reservations List limited to 25 entries? Is there a beta firmware version that allows more?

That was the exact reason I started looking around for new units.
I priced out two higher end units, before seeing a post here about DD-WRT, which I have been running for over six months.
If you have a D-Link DIR-825 B1 or B2, you too can use DD-WRT.

I'm only using 24 reservations at the moment, but I believe I was able to reserve at least 50 when I did my initial testing...
It's certainly worth investigation if you have a B1 or B2.

The majority of the DIR router are "positioned" for sale in Small office / Home office environments. DLink seem to think that 25 reservations is good enough for the SOHO products.

Sadly, I feel that they are very wrong. Even with my small but tech-heavy family, I'm currently AT at the limit, and have two more devices that I will shortly be adding to my network that will put me over their limit. And I plan to add at least three more new devices to my network in the coming year.
I am a bit of an edge case, but if/when we have children, that will add many more devices into the mix. Eventually, they will need to either turn this feature on, or add it to new devices. I'm guessing the latter, as turning it on in older products might mean they would have to turn off other features to guarantee memory address space.
Although, the feature set in the DD-WRT firmware seems a lot wider, and yet isn't taxing the router terribly... So I don't know.

This is going to start happening more and more. We have a pair of Samsung LCD's, one of which is new enough to sport an RJ-45, as will the new one from CES that I'm planning on getting for the family room. Also, each blu-ray player has one. Or a wireless module, still consuming an IP address. Each computer, each phone with Wifi, each Roku, each Boxee Box, each NAS, and so on and so forth...
I can see a future coming where I will need to have subnets like a corporation in order to service all of the LAN/WAN connected devices in my home... The only way I can see around that future is if the world suddenly deployed IPv6, and every device on the planet suddenly acquired it's own fixed IP address (which would open up a whole other can of worms). But even in that case, I'm expecting it's more likely to roll out where your cable company installs back-end IPv6, and pushes IPv4 and perhaps encapsulated IPv6 down to the consumer (which again opens up a can of worms).
Since I'm still really fond of D-Link products, I hope they are on top of this, and respond sooner rather than later...
