I was about to buy one of these a few days ago, but when I found this forum, it kinda scared me off-everyone seems to have reliability issues with D-Link....
Would any of you recommend the DIR-655 to anyone for home use; web browsing , video streaming and gaming?
Feel free to PM me....

Yes .... absolutely!
I've had mine since Aug 2007. After initial set up and making sure router and adapters were updated (firmware), everything worked and has continued to do so. My husband swears at his computer much less often and now places all blame for his woes on Microsoft instead of the router/internet connection (he has bad karma with electronics). We have 2 desktops, a laptop, Pocket PC and hotspot phone using the router.
I also set up a DIR-655 at my sister's house: they have 4 desktops, laptop, 2 PSPs, Wii, Xbox360, and hotspot phone accessing their router. They have no problems with it and I haven't even gotten around to updating the firmware since the router was installed last August.
Both are set up with MAC filtering, broadcast SSID is off, and WPA2.
Hope that helps!

I <3 the DIR-655. i have it setup at my house with a X360, psp, NDS,wii,VOIP phone, 3 PC's, HL2 server, and 2 wifi cameras. I havnt touched the firmware since 1.10 . I could upgrade it but everything works as is.

I have one as does my brother. Both are awesome for gaming and BT.
My favorite D-Link product by far.

DIR-655 using older code (1.10) works good for me. I haven't tried any other code.
Internet browsing (wired and wireless)
Security Camera streaming (over wireless)
light on-line gaming (CS, over wired)

DIR-655 running the beta firmware. 1 wired computer, 3 wireless, and 1 wired network printer. No issues at all, good connectivity throughout the house. The wired computer does some online gaming (America'a Army) 2 of the wireless do alot of AIM and Youtube with no issues.

Except for OnDemand connection not working for me, the router has performed well. I have three pc's and one QNAP NAS device hardwired, and lots of media wireless devices. My DIR-655 goes through a Dlink DSL-2320B modem with DSL connection. Everything I have done, with the exception of Ondemand connection, has worked flawlessly. I exercise this router a lot: Dynamic DNS, UPnP, streaming music and video, forwarding ports to manage the NAS from internet, etc. I have now turned OnDemand to Always on to avoid the constant disconnect-re-connect loops at night... You all talked me into it :D, I got one on the way!!
Expect to see me around with a bunch of $tupid questions ;D....

I've had one for about a year and it's been working great.

I have two and they have been 100% reliable for months.
Happy customers are not usually motivated to post in these forums!

Mine is working great 1 year old.

I just set mine up today.
Comcast in Bay Area.
DIR-655 on the 3rd floor. So far, only my PC is connected via LAN. 1 MBP and iMac on 2nd floor are receiving full signal on N-only wifi (WPA2). The full signal was something I never got with my old wrt5gl despite changing to a high-gain antennae and having the router on the next room.
This thing hasn't dropped a connection yet, thugh its too early to tell still.
I'm very, very happy with the router so far.

Yes, I have one working just fine for a long while, pretty decent product. ;D

Yes works great, but be sure to install SP3 if you are running XP and SP1 if you are running Vista.
Also, no problems with my laptop running OS 10 and Ubuntu 8.04.
