I use the Pinter Control panel in XP but cannot find the HP3600n printer. When I had a Linksys I was able to add Printer and it was able to find the printer relatively quick.. Now using either Vista Ultimate or Xp Pro with SP2 does not find or pick up the TCP/IP printer. I need to print some important documents but cannot do it after I got this DIR655 DSL Router. I am connected directly [wired] to the Router. Using XP or Vista Ultimately, I was unable to find the printer using wizard or even connecting via TCP/IP. Using Linksys 110, 310+ series had no problem.

The router is not responsible for printer sharing. The Router is designed to create a network between your computers and it allows your computers to use that network to access the Internet. Make sure that you are not running any software firewalls as those would also interfere with the setup of the network. Did you assign a static IP address on this printer? Then were you able to ping the printer from your PC?

The Printer has a fixed IP. Somehow when using other Routers I was able to find the printer quite fast but for this I was unable to. No firewall is running except the router which has the SPI thing..

is the printer on the same sub-net?

Same discussion is also here.

If you have the default setting of LAN Address and DHCP server, then you are now using a different Network ID than with your previous router. Is your HP network printer getting IP via DHCP or is it static? Is it in the new Network range or is it still on your previous router IP scheme?
If the printer is in the same Network as the client PC then the problem is with the PC settings.

Problem solved. Add Printer TCPIP directly from Vista or XP. Works fine now. Thanks
