Title: DIR-655: Can't Connect to Hard Drive Any More
Post by: jstewar9 on December 17, 2010, 12:23:51 AM
Hello,

I recently purchased a DIR-655 router (Hardware: B1, Firmware: 2.00NA) .  Initially, I installed SharePort on my laptops and was able to see the drive and connect to it through the SharePort utility.  Now when I open SharePort on each of my laptops, it says:

"No device servers were found on the network.  Make sure your device servers are set properly"

I've tried restarting the router, unplugging the external drive, and re-installing SharePort to no avail.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jon

Have you tried to connect that hdd directly to your PC via USB?

Have you tried if the hdd is spinning by feeling it with your hand? If you don't feel any vibration then the disk may be in some sleep mode and your router just doesn't know how to wake it up.
I had some similar problem when i tested 3G modem connected to Shareport router.

I do not have much experience about Shareport but what i have read from this forum there are some problems in reliability. At first things may work like a charm but after a while some problems may arise.
