I have a very fast computer with a SS hard drive. As a result, there is almost no delay when I click to open something. For various reasons, it has now become necessary to store a lot of data on my DNS-323. This results in annoying long delays when the drive has been asleep and the drives have to spool up. I partially solved this problem by increasing the time until it hibernates to five hours.
I want to completely eliminate the problem by causing the DNS-323 to wake up when I start my computer or wake Windows 7 from "sleep". Is there any way to do this? Is there any app that will "ping" the DNS-323 to keep it spooled up every so often?

You can create a "Scheduled Task" in Windows.
(1) Under system tools, select "Scheduled Task"
(2) Select the "Command Prompt" as the application
(3) As you walk through the setup process, check "Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish"
(4) Enter your ping command in the "Run" field
Along the way you'll have options for setting the frequency or trigger events to instantiate the task.
