Title: Error sending logs by email
Post by: lmrtz on May 06, 2008, 10:18:07 AM
Without any notification whatsoever, Comcast (my ISP) switched my outgoing port for email from 25 to 587. I have several different POP3 providers with assorted email accounts, but had to change all of them to use Comcast for outgoing as none work with port 587.

Needless to say, my logs which used to be sent automatically by email when the log was full now encounter an "email" error. I've changed the email settings to my Comcast address but that has not helped. Do I have to make a change on the DIR-655 regarding port 587 and, if so, how is that accomplished?

Thanks for the help!

It can not be done currently, it's being considered for future firmwares.

Lycan,

Thank you for the answer. I didn't have a particular need for keeping all the logs. I just did it because I could. I thought they would be useful if I encountered trouble with the DIR-655. But since 10 months have passed without any issues, I guess there's no need to worry about logs.

Cheers!

Try a syslog system like Kiwi, it's free.
