hi all,
just acquired a PS3 last night and set it up. finds the dns323 on the network, finds the folders but says .. unsupported format on all AVI's that the 323 would stream.
yes, i have the latest firmware from sony and the 323 streams fine with my xb360. oh, the 323 is using twonky to stream
anyone know why the ps3 wont play the avi's?
cheers

Support is unable to assist with third party software issues. Do these avi's stream from the build in UPnP AV server?
-
ok, let me rephrase then
can the 323 (natively) with 1.05 interact with streaming *.avi's to a PS3 w/o using 3rd party (eg, twonky)? i recall this was an issue w/1.04
if it can natively do it now, i will remove twonky

I believe the PS3 can only talk to a DLNA certified media server and the DNS-323 does not have one, even with FW 1.05. :-\
I use twonkey on my 323, its about the best there is so far. ;D
-
i figured as much but had to ask. have been using twonky since the get go, and seems i will continue to use it till the 323 gets this part fixed
cheers

The PS3 works with the DNS 323 since firmware 1.04. All you have to do is enable the UPnP AV Server and put the files you want the PS3 to see in that folder.

Since the release of firmware 1.04 the PS3 is able to see the UPnP AV media server of the DNS-323 on the network and stream media files for playback on the PS3 with out the use of Twonky or any other 3rd party software.

ok, maybe i had it wrong and it was the xbox360 that could not see the media center from the 323. has the 1.05 firmware fixed that bug w/the 360?
i have both platforms (ps3 & 360)
cheers

Don't know how I missed that. I tried it anyway and it seems the PS3 cannot see at least half the video files on my 323, those it can see are all mpeg2 so its back to Twonkey for me. :-\

Currently the Xbox360 can not access the DNS-323 media server. It is being looked into.
