Title: VPN Cisco Secure Services Client
Post by: griffen on December 20, 2010, 02:36:05 AM
Hi I'm trying to connect via a VPN through a DIR 615 to our company network on a WinXP, but so far without  joy. I'm able to connect to the internet on the PC and view websites. Unfortunately as soon as I try and load the VPN it fails. I'm currently using Version 5.1.1.17 of the Cisco Secure Services Client. I've opened the ports in Advanced > Port Forwarding.

Specified:
- IP Address
- 500, 62514-62524 as the port range on both TCP and UDP

I've tried http://www.canyouseeme.org/ which tells me the ports in question are closed ???. Is there anything else I should be trying apart from maybe some mulled wine?

I had this issue, and gave up trying to get it to work and used the custom DD-WRT firmware on here.  it then worked straight away.

I suggest you do the same.  my 615 has been soo much more reliable since doing it.  before I had to restart it at least once a week normally twice.  I upgraded about 6 weeks ago, and its not flinched ever since.

Thanks. I was weighing that up but I don't think my revision is supported (A1) form what I've found. Unless you know otherwise?

oh bummer!

Can't help then unfortunately, i tried for nearly a week, in the end I got it to connect but it wouldn't get DNS entries from the VPN servers so couldn't connect to any servers in the company.

I gave up!

The bizarre thing is I had it working previously and I have no idea what I did. Did you experiment with the application access section? Triggers?
