After finally getting my DIR-655 replaced when it mysteriously died, I now am constantly dropping my connection from it to my DWA-552 card. I'm running the latest version of Network magic on both computers. I know it's not the router because I still get a constant connection to my PS3 as well as another laptop in the network. The connectivity problem seems to be within the signal to the router and the network card, because I am managing to pick up another persons unsecured signal on the wireless desktop. If more information is needed just ask, but what, if any are some solutions to my problem?

Hi T_Iz_Me,
On the Desktop computer, is the D-Link Software also installed, or just the newest Card Drivers? When you switched out the Routers, did you remember to disable the Network Lock on the new Replacement Router, until all devices were recognized and then reapply the Network Lock?

I don't have network lock enabled, I have WPA2 with a Pre-shared key, so no need for locking the network. Yes, I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it. My PS3, and the other laptop both connect without any problems, my phone as well. It just seems to be that computer refuses to connect usning the DWA-552 adapter. The computer I'm trying to connect it with is running XP Home Edition, with SP3 installed.

When did you upgarde to SP3? From what I understand between April and May, Microsoft released the beta version of SP3. If So, you're going to have to uninstall SP3 and reinstall the latest version of SP3 (update). Also make sure you have the latest drivers, 1.40 for the DWA-552 which was released June 10th 2008.

Figured I'd tag along on this one (hope the OP doesn't mind) because I'm having the same issue w/ similar setup.
DIR-655 - works fine for my laptop and xbox - but my wife's desktop w/ a DWA-552 can't keep a connection. I uninstalled all DLink software yesterday (add/remove progs) - then removed the wireless card via Device Mgr - rebooted - reinstalled via the latest 6/10/2008 driver. All worked well for a day. She came in this morning - booted up - and we're back to the same errors - constant drops.
DIR-655 logs show: "Received Deauthentication"
Specifically:
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 10:45:18 2008 Wireless system with MAC address 001E580347CD disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 10:45:13 2008 Wireless system with MAC address 001E580347CD associated
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 10:45:11 2008 Wireless system with MAC address 001E580347CD disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 10:45:06 2008 Wireless system with MAC address 001E580347CD associated
over and over and over and over - as you can see every 5 seconds or so.
and this:
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 11:27:28 2008 Wireless system with MAC address 001E580347CD associated
[INFO] Sat Jun 14 11:20:39 2008 Above message repeated 31 times
So it associates and drops - associates and drops - associates and drops. The signal meter just constantly flashes.
I've tried unplugging the router for several mins - same thing. I've disabled power mgmt on the DWA-552. Disabled Windows Zero Config from Services. i'm running out of ideas and kind of at a loss here. Any ideas??

Hi shibumi,
Are you using the Network Filter or Network Lock on your computer?
Are you using Network Magic and which version?

I have a very similar issue here. I also have a DIR-655, WPA2 with Pre-shared key. I have two PCs with DWA-552. One of them always connects (XP SP3) and another one (Vista SP1) doesn't always connect after resuming (the same computer was before on XP SP3 and same issue). The authentication fails, the card sees the network but it doesn't authenticate. I have drivers 1.40 installed. No network magic or filter here.

There is a new firmware for the DIR-655 1.20
¤ SDK upgrade to Ubicom 7.6.1
¤ Fixed TKIP/WEP encryption issue with DWA-160A1.
¤ Fixed WEP 11g/11b issue.
so far, it looks like this solved this issue on my DWA-552.
