OK, Whay am I doing wrong? I have followed the directions posted for using WMP11 as the media server but the DSM510 does not see it as a server. WMP can see the DSM510 though...
Any ideas?
This is the link to the directions I followed:

Check your configuration in any anti-virus software you may have loaded on your PC.
-
What do you suggest checking for? Port blocking? or????
Your response is very vague...
-
Using McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8
-
Check to make sure it allows WMP11 access to network devices

I would have no idea where to begin... thats for responding but I guess this is something i don't need...
Just as well I didn't have to call and be on hold for this answer.

I am very sorry but I do not have details to support McAfee Virus software. McAfee support would be best equip to offer help for this issue.

Other then this posting, I have talked to a live support @ DLINK and I too feel that information or details on why you might have come to the conclusion for what might be keeping someone from using your product. Back in December of 2007 I bought this product and had connection issue myself. The tech support was telling me all kinds of steps and none of them worked. I myself researched for months before I found the issues. The issue lay within the wireless router WEP, which wasn't on at the time, and was never mention that it had to be on, and that the crytion keys needed to be entered to communcate. But no where did it mention that this was a MUST! In the future, I think it would benfit DLINK support and/or poster to give some reason for things such as this above. Detail and reason to information is a big help. Don't think that everyone out there are computer salvy as yourself.

Wireless Encryption is not required for the DSM-510 to work wirelessly but if you are using encryption on you wireless network you must enter the encryption information while setting up the DSM-510 wirelessly.
Have you tried it wired?
Please try a ping test. Press setup on the remote and goto Network setting on the DSM-510. What is your IP address?
Now on you PC click Start and goto Run.. Type cmd and press enter. In this prompt screen type "ping 192.168.xx.xx (DSM-510 IP address) and press enter" 192.168.xx.xx = your DSM-510 IP address shown on the device in the first step.
Do you get 4 replys back?
