Can anyone coach me on getting the 655 router setup so that its outfacing (internet facing) connection that is expected to be to the wild wooley internet, is really connected to my local lan router which is in turn connected to the internet.
To make it a little clearer but not getting too detailed.... if the network I'm after would look like this:

h1, h2, h3 of course, represent hosts. I see it looks pretty messy but if I keep messing with it I doubt I'll improve it significantly, and hopefully it will convey the basic plan.
So that the 655 is connected to my Netgear FVS318 router is the final link to the internet.
In the course of trying to do this myself, I keep running headlong into the problem of trying to incorporate the 655 into the same subnet as the lan (192.168.0.0)
Apparently it has to have an IP from a different subnet so using 192.168.1.0 and IP 192.168.1.1
But still get lost from there and end up in a failed attempt.
It will still need the NETGEAR IP as its default route I think, unless it can be its own default route ...
Part of the problem is not being able to just hand edit the configuration... being confined to dialog boxes and certain unfamiliar names ... or at least it sounds like some thin excuse for botching this up.
I must be possible to to do, and probably not even that hard... if someone can give an example of how it might be done.
Currently I'd really be using the 655 as nothing much more than a WAP but do have bigger plans for it.

use as wap? thats all you had to say, its easy, first if your netgear is set to 192.168.0.1 set your dir-655 to 192.168.0.2, turn off dhcp and connect using port 1 don't use wan to an open lan port on your netgear.
