Title: DHCP Lease time dropping wireless
Post by: motherfo on July 12, 2008, 11:56:08 PM
Hey guys,

I've finally gotten everything the way I wanted and everythings working great.  Is there any way I can prevent DHCP Lease time from dropping my wireless after it renews?  I've been playing 360 and it will disconnect the box from live and so on and screw up any game I was playing.

It is just it renewing. It only seems to happen on my wireless, my other computers are unaffected.

Thanks

Fo

Well under Network Settings you could have it listed on the DHCP Reservation list.
This dedicates an IP addy within the routers allocation numbers to it.
In fact all your computers can be added here.

They are all reserved including the 360s

It's not a problem with the DHCP release and renew.  It's actually a problem with the wireless compatibility.

Which FW version are you using?  And, do you use any encryption?

If so, I suggest you at least upgrade to version 1.8 to stop the problems from dropping.  I had complained a while ago about the problem with Intel 3945ABG adapter and dropping the connection.

See if that helps.

still happens randomly with fw 1.9

[INFO] Fri Feb 06 21:10:30 2009 Lease 192.168.0.106 renewed by client 0022B04F9219

It renews the DAP-1522   then renews my computer

seems to drop then

sorry to bump an old topic, but it pertains to this

for a while I was noticing that the actual mac id of the router was getting disconnected messages in the log,
I solved that by a clean reload of the firmware and settings.

3.01 is the latest code version.
If the router is requiring reboots to resume normal operation, I'd try reloading the firmware.

Do you own any 2.4Ghz devices in your home besides the router?

Sorry but, 3.01?   Latest code for which device?  Firmware?

I've reloaded the firmware, but I'm currently trying the DGL-4500 which lowered pings and upped speeds better than the 4300.

No other 2.4Ghz devices

Thank you,

Fo
