Can you try different NICs and cabling? How exactly is the connection shutting off? What windows or OS are you using? Do other Computers directly connected to the 655 do the same thing? Whats the speed settings on the 655 set for? Auto or Manual? Try setting them to different modes?

Sounds like something on the Vista PC thats causing the shut down. Look at the Event Viewer and System logs and see if you can find any entries for the time frame of the power down. I might try a different NIC as well. If your using Vista 64, hit F8 after the BIOS posts for the PC and select Disable Driver Enforcement before you install any drivers. Some drivers are not signed fully and or not supported well in Vista x64. Disabling the Driver Enforcement might help get some drivers to install correctly. If the one PC is working well connected to the 655 and your Vista PC isn't then I would start at the PC and go from there. Let us know what you find.

Hi,

I agree about the NIC doing something to the power grid inside the pc.....

Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking, and see if the 1Gb setting crashes in Safe mode.....if not, then you have some type of driver conflict issue.

Crash to off situation are not common.  It shouldn't be too hard to troubleshoot if it is a repeatable crash....repeatable crashes in windows are rare themselves....
