Title: Is anyone getting decent speeds using Win 7?
Post by: tdean on December 29, 2010, 02:08:31 PM
since upgrading from xp, i am getting no more than 80mbps.  i was over 250 with xp.  i have met all the 300mbps criteria... the only difference is Win7.  has anyone been able to get this router and the 552 nic to perform?

one question to ask is whether the number XP reported is even close to accurate ??

I have seen several of my wireless systems using win 7 and or XP and the router pages all be wildly different.....  Windows likes to report a baseline connection speed, but it may not reflect the reality of actual data transfers....

I use the readings from the router's wireless page myself.....  Also I test from a site like  www.testmy.net and see if I get a large file download speed that is consistent with my other LAN based systems....

Hi tdean,

The key is "since upgrading from XP".  How did you install Win 7 and which version of Win 7, since Win 7 isn't an operating system?

Keep in mind, there isn't a clear "Upgrade" from XP to Win 7.....  You basically have to do a fresh install of Win 7 on the drive and then reinstall your apps...and hopefully you can import your data files that you backed up onto flash drive or such before you began the install of Win 7....
