I tried updating my firmware of my DIR-655 from 1.34NA to 1.35NA (Hardware Version: A1/A2).
However, I found something strange while updating the firmware, that made me stop, in order to ask the question.
Previously, when I did an update, I would browse for the location, and put it in, and it would allow me to update from that location.
Now, it will allow it, but when I select to update from the desktop (C:\users\derick\desktop\),
it comes up with another location (C:\fakepath\) for the .bin file.
This worries me..... it sounds like a virus or nastyware at work. Any comments on this?
I have a snip of the response.....

The fakepath is normal, nothing to worry about.

I just updated to 1.35NA (other thread) and I wondered also about the fakepath verbage, but it worked fine.... The router page had the full path to the file in its little data box....

I am having trouble updating to V1.35NA. I currently have V1.33NA and I go though the update process and it appears succesful and reboots, but when it comes back up, it still has the old V1.33NA version installed. I have tried multiple times with out any luck.

Save your configuration file in "Tools > System" and then press the reset button on the back of the router. I had the same problem but it worked fine after doing that and then I was able to upload the config file again afterwards.

My router is currently on firmware v1.02. Can I upgrade directly to v1.35NA or do I have to do any incremental upgrades? If so, which ones?
Thanks, Greg

I would do incrementals to 1.10, then you can go 1.35. BUT if you router is working fine for you there is no real reason to change anything.
-
Thanks. It mostly is working fine except either it or the cable modem is causing a loss of internet occasionally.
Most recently I'm having trouble connecting the Xbox with the Windows Media Player. The help menu says it may be a router setting and that I need to have my router at the most recent firmware version. So I'm hoping the firmware update might fix the issue.

Strange that there is no mention of 1.35NA on the Official FTP site. Not in the firmware folder for latest firmware revision or in the Beta folder. No mention of it at all.

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_FW_135NA.zip (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_FW_135NA.zip)
Its toward the top of the list on the actual ftp firmware folder page.
