How is your brother trying to connect to your router? wire or wireless

If wireless, make sure he is connecting to your SSID and not the neighbors.  Also, make sure both devices are set for automatic on the way they obtain their IP from the router.  If IPs were manually set under the old set up, they may not be able to find your router.
