I have an HP Media Center PC running Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows Media Center 2005 Roll up2.
I just purchased a new D-Link DSM-520 based on D-Link Pre-Sales support telling me I could watch my
WMC recordings on my HDTV using the DSM-520.
So far I have not been able to get the DSM-520 to stream Windows Media Center recordings.
Can anyone here help me out?
Thanks..............

Are you referring to playing DVR-ms video format files on the DSM-520?

I have only gotten this to "work" by installing 1.09 of the DLink Media Server software. 1.10 did not work for me (on Vista Home Premium) but going back to 1.09 did. EXCEPT the audio playback is jumpy and entirely useless even when on a hardwired 100MBPS Ethernet connection. Windows Media Player 11 has removed the ability to "share" a DVR-MS file, so the DLink Server is the only way to try, and DVR-MS function didn't arrive until 1.09.
DLink, when will you fix this advertised functionality of the DSM-520??? It's the only reason I bought it!

This issue should be resolved in the next firmware update. I am very sorry but I do not have a date at this time.

When I bought my DSM-520 in January, it was mainly to watch Windows Media Center (DVR-MS) files on my TV. This was Media Lounge 1.09 and Firmware 1.05. Needless to say, the DVR-MS files did not play. Well, they play, but with the audio screwed up.
After 7 hours on the phone with D-Link support (my lost weekend), I got a product specialist in California who immediately recognized the problem and said it was known and would be fixed in the next firmware update. I was told to be patient, it would not be long, and that I would then love my DSM-520.
Well, 1.06 came and went and now 1.06.01 is here - no fix. And D-Link still advertises DVR-MS support.
I have read other complaints about this in the forum. I hope ECF is correct and it will be fixed in the next firmware update. If not, PLEASE STOP advertising the DSM-520 as supporting the DVR-MS format so no one else will end up in the same boat.

We had this issue with the DSM-750 as well and with help we have resolved this issue and is now working in the current firmware. I have been told that it can now be fixed on the DSM-520 now that we know the problem and should be in the next firmware update.

I know that everyone hates to commit to a date on stuff like this, but any idea when we will see this update. The problem is REALLY annoying and I would like to be able to stream from my computer to a TV since that is also why I purchased the 520..

Sorry we do not get dates for firmware releases.

Just a note to express appreciation for the active participation of D-Link here. D-Link did have an unofficial presence over on the AVS forum for a while, and it was a great help, but that person was transferred.
Keep up the good work -- we do appreciate it!
