Is there anything different between the original shipping version and the new ones that are shipping?
Thanks
-
yes they have fixed the wiring issue as well as made a bunch of other improvements through the updated firmware.

Right, but are there any other hardware differences? i.e. new chips used, etc?
-
Radio change and obvious firmware adjustments.
Newer radio supposedly has slight increase to transmit power.
-
I am VERY satisfied with the new revisions in terms of speed, performance etc.
I am having a VOIP issue which I am tearing my hair out over but other I think its the best dual band router out there today
-
So the new version is faster than my old 855? That is pretty lame. >:( Did you buy your new one or did they swap it for you? D-Link should take care of the early adopters who got hosed with those faulty 855s.
-
D-Link is "Taking Care" of the early adopters, if you know of one that hasn't been "Taken Care" of they should call in for support. Make sure they have a HW A-1.
-
I'm one. I'll PM Lycan. Thanks
-
VOIP issues, what VOIP issues? DLink has yet to acknowledge the issues with your 855 or my 655 with 1.20. Good luck!

Hello Lycan,
According to Administrator "AWDL" posted that D-Link is "Taking Care" of the early adopters, if you know of one that hasn't been "Taken Care" of they should PM Lycan or call in for support. Make sure they have a HW A-1."
In my case, I have a HW A-1 DIR-855, can you please advise me on how I can exchange my HW A-1 DIR-855 to a HW A-2 DIR-855?
Please let me know...
Thanks...

PM Lycan or call in for support
If you PM Lycan, you might get a quicker response. Or call corporate.
This is from D-link Support page:
NOTE: A small amount of the new D-Link DIR-855 dual-band routers, which were part of an initial product distribution, have antenna leads that were mis-configured at the factory and may perform normally but not up D-Link’s highest level of performance standards. The serial numbers of these units range from F30A17C000019 to F30A17C000118. If you happened to purchase one of these units, and are experiencing a weak or less-than-optimal wireless signal, you should call our corporate office (800-326-1688) where our dedicated team of support personnel will help you execute the warranty for the product
The page can be viewed here:

I've arranged it so that all you have to do is call in to support and they should take care of you assuming that your serial number is within the scope of units that were "troublesome".
-
will this guarantee they get the H2 versions?
-
They'll be given a2 units at my request for a specific Serial number range.
-
I still cannot find the DIR-855 on sale at any of the usual places (Amazon, MWave, NewEgg, ZipZoomFly). Can you comment, Lycan? What is the hold-up?

....and when they run out www.dlinkshop.com has units.
-
do we even know for sure these are definitely the A2 units?
-
if you buy it and its not then follow the directed instructions for replacement :)
-
I called support and they wouldn't swap my router out because its serial number wasn't in the range of recalled routers. My unit is definitely an A1 revision. What should I do? I PM'ed Lycan a while back and tried calling the number he gave me, but never got a response.
Thanks

IF you unit is not within the serial number range then they will not just swap you. You'll have to run the normal troubleshooting gambit.

It's disappointing as an early adopter that I'm not going to get the benefits of the newer radio.

there's no difference in the radio. We made a change to the layout of the antennas. I should have been more clear.
