Title: DIR 655 Rev b problems
Post by: akumajosh on January 07, 2011, 10:12:28 PM
Has anyone had any problems with port forwarding on the DIR 655 Rev b 2.0na firmware? I retired my old linksys router, and bought this one. But i cant seem to get the ports to forward. I have never had problems forwarding on other routers.

I have static/reserved ip set up, used portforward.com 's portchecker program to verify that the ports were open (it said they were). Yet every application/game that uses ports wont work.

I did a simple test by trying to connect to a ventrillo server i hosted (port 3784). In the server log it showed that i was able to connect, but was instantaneously disconnected.

Is anyone else having problems with rev b? Or is it possible to downgrade to the firmware or rev a?

return it where you got it from and get something that actually works.

How are you setting it up on the router? Virtual Server or Port Forwarding?

Any software FIREWALLs in the way?

i was setting it up on port forwarding, no firewalls. The thing that baffled me was the remote portchecker program i used said all the ports were open.

I just gave up on it and took it back to the store. Got a netgear instead (as much as i dislike them) and have had no problems forwarding ports on it. Its a shame too, the dlink seemed to have a very nice interface to set up port forwarding with.
