Title: SSD hard disk improve NAS performance?
Post by: myon on January 09, 2011, 12:03:04 AM
I've got a hard disk installed in the dir-685 and I am so disappointed with the low speed and the noise.

Does anyone know if a SSD hard disk would:
1) improve a lot the NAS read/write speed?
2) stop to use the fan because of the hard disk?

Thanks for any feedback!

to the 1st q., the answer is yes, but not dramatically, to the 2snd. the fan works very little because of the low temperature generated by the ssd.
i have the router on the computer desk and the noise was really annoying, now it disappeard ;D.
i stated this already in other thread.

What brand and model did you choose? 7mm or 9.5mm? Can you share your experience and advice? :)

corsair nova 32 9,5mm
my main objective was the fan noise reduction that wort out very good...
the performance cannot be measured for a nas like this one...
firmware development for the router is too slow and drivers are old...
