Title: Please Help. I need N speed
Post by: DaBomb on January 09, 2011, 11:06:35 AM
I bought a router D-Link DIR-615 rev. 4.00 D3 and a C660-121 Toshiba Satellite with Win7 Home 64bit (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-C660-121/1094363/tab/4/subtab/1/ ). The problem is that the two are not connected via wireless signal to the protocol N.
He shows me the 54Mb connection. Why? When I try to do update, The router go to the login window. I see no option to browse for files. And something else lost wireless connection every few minutes. Where can I get a firmware update? Solve the problem? Whose fault:router or laptop?
Excuse my english.
Please help me. Thanks.

You can try a firmware upgrade to 4.13, which you can get from ftp://ftp.dlink.cz/dir/dir-615/driver_software/DIR-615_fw_revD_4-13B01_all_en_20101201.zip (you need the .bin inside)

Or, you can try the custom DD-WRT firmware, which is reportedly more stable. See here: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=13599.105

Update is done from the D-Link firmware interface under Maintenance > Update.

To get mode N go to Setup > Wireless Settings > Manual Wireless Network Setup and check the 802.11 Mode setting. You can set it to Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g and save settings. If that doesn't solve it, set it to 802.11n only.

I would use the custom ROM, my router was soo much better after I installed the DD-WRT ROM.
