Hi,
The DIR-655 has a square button on the side of it. It looks like a refresh button. I don't know what it does, but I have pressed that button before, thinking it does something good. Nothing bad has happened after I pressed it , but I have no clue about what is does.
Thanks

Okay, I am a newbie and have no clue when it comes to routers and such. My problem is I had the belkins router but it was old so we decided to upgrade and we bought the dlink. The problem is when I install the router everything works fine for about a day. Then I can still surf the internet but it will not buffer out anything like youtube. It also wont let me download and install anything at all. We called the store where we bought it and he said it sounds like the router is having a conflict with my IP address. Does anyone know what the problem may be and if it is a conflict with the IP how to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any help
Jen

the answer you got from the store is bogus.
If you had an IP conflict, you wouldn't be able to do anything...no internet...nothing. because your modem and router would be fighting each other.
You say it had been running fine for the first day or so..... What changed after that ? Did you change any settings in the router setups ? You might try a hardware reset on the router....using a pen, push the little tiny button on the back of the router for 10 to 30 seconds..... You WILL lose any changes you have made to the router setups, so if you changed anything, go in an write them down before using the reset button.
I run my router from my battery backup unit (and also my modem) to make sure the electricity powering the router is stable as possible. Personally, I think electrical problems affect many people without them being aware of power problems because they may not impact your tv or microwave, but routers seems sensitive to them (my opinion only).

I did absolutely nothing to it after I used the driver CD. This is my second dlink router in less then 2 months and I just put this one back in the box and I am returning it. I am tired of trying to get it working. I just plugged in my old one for the time until I find something that works. Oh and I have held in the reset button and still nothing. Thanks for your reply though

Routers have no drivers to install.
The CD is just for setup parameters but is really not needed and can actually cause more problems than just setting up the router manually.
