Title: DIR 615 Wireless Inop
Post by: rukshawm4st3r on January 09, 2011, 10:17:27 PM
Can only connect to the internet via ethernet cable.  The wireless network only has limited connectivity.  None of my wireless computers/devices can access the internet through the wireless.  I'm using a static IP address.  My laptop is 192.168.0.3 and the default gateway is 192.168.0.1

This setup was functioning fine at my old house but I just moved and as i was giving the WEP key to my roomate I clicked "save" in the wireless wizard setup screen and it dumped us all off the network...

Sounds like a issue with the wireless security. Why are you using WEP? And why would you choose save after giving someone the WEP? Did you change it?

Yea I've changed the WEP Key a couple times now.  I've recorded the new key each time I change it but the network isn't even asking for the key.

Have you tried WPA2?

Problem solved.  The WEP key was wrong.  Simplest solution is usally always the right one.

Cheers.

Nice, glad you found the issue. Can you use WPA or WPA2?
