I was wondering does the DNS-321 have issues with displaying or editing Chinese/Japanese text characters like the DNS-323 and is it supported?
-
These issue should be fixed as in the DNS-323 current firmware.
-
What about the DNS-321?
-
There should be no issues with displaying or editing Chinese/Japanese text characters.

I am having problems with displaying Japanese/Chinese songs in iTunes however they play fine. I have the latest version of iTunes 7.7.1.11 and I am running Windows Vista with SP1 and it happens on all computers however when I check the files in the NAS they display fine with no problem so the issue on appears to be in iTunes server on the DNS-321.

Anyone know whats wrong?

The iTunes server and UPnP AV Media server may be limited to English on the DNS-321,323, and 343. I will confirm this for you as soon as I get details or test this myself.

Is there anyway D-Link can work with Apple to fix this problem in a future firmware update? I would think the iTunes server is available on all major languages of iTunes?

I have Vista SP1 and DNS323 FW 1.05 and still can not see Chinese file names. I have upgraded twice to 1.04 and then to 1.05 recently and still have this problem. I tried to upload a screen shot but the system would not let me. Can someone help? I keep music and video on a separate NAS purely because of this reason. Opening the folder shows strange file names like this ___-___. The files work fine. Just can read the file names.

Have you formated the drives since updating to firmware 1.04 or 1.05? This is required to add unicode support to the DNS-323.

I updated to firmware version 1.01 and iTunes version 8.0.2.20 and still having issues with displaying song titles/albumn information with Japanese and Traditional Chinese characters. >:(

You'll find that this is an issue with the PC not having the Asian character sets available to display what the DNS-321 is supplying.
I have a PC that was loaded with these character sets for a visiting Chinese student that was using Internet Explorer. The Asian characters show properly on this PC with iTunes.
The Asian character sets will have to be loaded onto the PCs to display them correctly. I've done this under Windows XP, but not Vista. It's an option in Windows XP and is a matter of just turning it on.
You can search Microsoft's web site for directions on how to load the Asian character sets onto your PCs.

I have the Asian support on my Sony VAIO SZ with Windows Vista Business and it displays and type all other japanese/chinese characters without a problem and its only a issue with my DNS-321 and iTunes.

Yeah it seems the iTunes server only supports English characters currently.

My bad. You're right.
