I have my DIR-655 set up to check for and email me if updated firmware becomes available. Lately, I have been getting several of these updated firmware notices each week. The links included in the email lead to a file download from a .tw domain. Here are two example emails:
Dated July 14th: Newer Firmware Version 13.113 for your D-Link Systems DIR-655 router is now available at http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A3_FW111B34.bin (http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A3_FW111B34.bin)
Dated August 23rd: Newer Firmware Version 15.115 for your D-Link Systems DIR-655 router is now available at http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A3_FW111B34.bin (http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A3_FW111B34.bin)
The "version" numbers in these emails don't make any sense to me (e.g. 13.113 or 15.115). Also, I'm already running firmware version 1.20 on hardware version A3 and the links in the emails seem to direct me to download firmware v1.11. I'm not sure if the emails are really linking me to updated firmware or not. Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Cheers.

I would be very suspicious of this. You were correct in not following the link in the message. I'll assume someone from DLink should be able to answer your question with ease. I have the same setting for notification on my DIR-655 and have never received a message from anywhere on this.

I've forwarded this topic to our PM for that product. He'll take a look and see what can be done.

I just got an update mail as well.

But I'm wondering as to the DIR655A4 part. I'm pretty sure I've got an A2 version...

We've determined that the issue is caused by our backend servers and we're looking to correct it.

Good to hear Linksys is looking into this.
FYI--I just received another email notification which reads as follows (looks like A4; I have A3):
Newer Firmware Version 15.205 for your D-Link Systems DIR-655 router is now available at http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A4_FW120B07.bin (http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A4_FW120B07.bin)

Linksys: Any progress on this issue? I'm still getting "update" links via email for A4 hardware and v1.207B firmware (see link below).
http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A4_FW120B07.bin (http://wrpd.dlink.com.tw/router/firmware/DIR-655/Ax/Default/DIR655A4_FW120B07.bin)
Could someone at least please advise if I should install this firmware on my DIR-655 A3; I'm currently running firmware v1.20 so I'm not sure if this is a newer version or not.
Cheers.

The 1.20 is the latest code. The issue wasn't with the firmware. It was with the backend server.
As for as beta code goes, it's your choice to install it. We're not forcing anyone to use it. If you're not satisfied with the performance of the product let us know and we'll do our best to fix it.
