Hi Guys, I have just switched out my Linksys wrt54g with a new dir 655 updated to 1.2. So far so good, However when I use my laptop from work with which I use a VPN line. My laptop tells me the VPN line is connected however it is clearly not as my email just backs up until I get to the office and I get a deluge of emails from when I could not connect at home.
Does anybody have any ideas on this issue, as it is driving me nuts.
I'm guessing it is a tunneling or port issue, but this router has so much more things to click on than I am used to, so I could easily get myself into trouble, so I thought it better to ask here. Thanks for your prompt attention.

Cisco VPN Client works with VPN tunnel in DIR-655. How do you connect with what software?

thanks for your reply. Sadly I am a pc thicko. It is from my office, they load all the software, but sadly the one tech guy there is so overstreched it maybe a week before he gets to me and maybe, just maybe he might know what to do, but no-one has faith in his tech abilities.
What I can say is that my vpn was fine before when I was using the Linksys wrt54g, the only change at home is that was changed out for the new d-link dir 655 unit.
Now the vpn "says" it is connected on my desktop but obviously it isn't as i do not get any email through the office outlook account and I cannot access the office shared drive.
However when I go into the office, it connects and downloads all the email I have missed and hey presto connects to the shared drive with no problem.
Therefore my Sherlock Holmes in me says it must be "something" to do with the new router. maybe a box is crssoed and shouldn't be or vice versa, but which one is the magic question.
Sorry i cannot be more help, I truly wish I could. Maybe I should switch back to the linksys unit and not upgrade? but seems to me to be defeatest. Any ideas anyone? simple ones please ;)

Just to keep you informed, The VPN line says it is connected. I can now access the shared drive at the office. However when I try to use outlook, it goes through the motions of trying to connect to exchange serv er but after 30 seconds disconnects. It keeps on trying but never get connected to exchange server. Yet when I go to the office it does. This is without changing ANY settings. Maybe this will be a clue to the answer?

Ed you need to have the onsite tech look at your system. Wait didn't they give you Web Outlook access? Can you get into that? If you can't the Exchange Admin as to setup your profile to access through VPN or remotely. It should do it automatically.
So you can login through VPN Client software with 4-digit pin then using a passcode from the token/key fob RSA Secured ID? You can access shared drives, folder etc.. But can't use Outlook ? 2000, 2002(XP), 2003, 2007?
Check with those who support you first. You might have to go home early and try the VPN again. Arrange for the company Tech to be available for you to give him a call and describe what happening that's if he's your Exchange Admin.

I am having problems with my VPN as well. I can connect with one computer but not with another. I have had several people look at this problem and we can't figure it out.
What could be blocking the one computer?
