Title: Sync Time Remaining: Degraded
Post by: zkhaial on September 07, 2008, 01:55:39 PM
I am running into this problem.
My DNS-323 has 2 Disk 500GB(s) all the front lights seem to be OK.
I looked at the status screen and see “Sync Time Remaining: Degraded”  It’s been like this for the last week. I thought it would rebuild by now but no change.

Do I have a bad drive? or how do I force a rebuild?

Restarting the DNS-323 should rebuild the RAID if you are Degraded.

I still have the same problem. I restarted once & rebooted once.

The issue is I can't tell which drive is failing. DNS-323 is all blue lights in at the front. Thanks.

When writing data to you DNS-323 RAID1 Drive do  both LEDs on the front panel blink or does one remain solid?

- Left LED blinks
- Right LED solid

I would recommend backing up your data and reformat your RAID1 and transfer your data back.

Is it dangerous to take one of the drives out?

The right drive (non-blinking drive), then put it back in after a power cycle.

Maybe this will push the unit to rebuild?

You should be fine removing one of the drives.

At one point when this first started did you log into the unit and get a prompt to format the drives again and choose "skip"?
