I have an old Pocket-PC 2003 device that supports WPA, but not WPA2.
I have been unable to get these two devices to work together. It sees the wireless router, the signal strength is excellent (it is 1ft from the device), and everything seems to be setup correctly, but it just will not get an IP address. I have tried changing the configuration several times to no avail.
I did, however, borrow an older DIR-655 device RevA4 FW 1.32NA, and it works correctly with that device. I tried manually copying the settings from the older device to the newer one, including the SSID and the Key, but it did not help.
I am trying to set this up for a customer, but it just does not want to work.
Please, i am desperate, can someone help me.
Mark.

Can you manually set an IP address in the device?
-
I can manually set an IP address, but it doesn't work. I can only get it to work when I set it to Open i.e. no security (not even WEP works), and I am not going to connect it to any network like that.
I have tried connecting a laptop to the router wirelessly, and that works correctly.

Trade routers.

If I could, I would, but the individual I borrowed the old device from is not willing to give up his router as he has older devices as well.

How about setting up a guest zone in the router for the Pocket PC and setting for a different security option?
-
Unfortunately, it seems that the only "security" option is no security, which is not a viable option because I need it to communicate with the other devices on the network.

By the way I appreciate all the suggestions. If anyone has anything else they can suggest, I am greatful for the advice.
