Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good backup utility that is fully automated and works well with the DNS-323?
Ideally it would work like WHS where incremental snapshots are done daily with space management, rollover, etc all handled automatically.
Any good tools? Ideally free? :)

Second Copy might meet most of your requirements. I learned about it from someone on this list. Many features are in the free version and the cost of the full version is not that expensive.

That looks like a pretty neat little utility - I didn't see a free version, but at $29 per license, that's not bad - next question, will it run on Windows Server (that's what I back up onto my DNS-323)

The following platforms are listed as being supported. I am using it with Windows x64. Price and the fact that the files were not encrypted were the two items if interest to me.
Windows 2000, Windows XP x32, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows Server 2003 x32, Windows XP x64, Windows Server 2003 x64, Windows Vista x32, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista x64, Windows 7, Windows 7 x32, Windows 7 x64

Second copy seems to only backup specific folders? Is there no tool that can fully image a hard drive automatically?
I was using Acronis True Image, but it seemed to fill up the backup drive and did not manage the free space correctly. Perhaps I had something setup wrong?

You will have to read the Users Guide, which I believe is available online. I think their philosophy is to backup only the user's files, system and programs files should be available to the user and reinstalled. I am sorry, but I have never looked for software that will create an image copy in the Windows environment.

I've used Acronis True Image, and it does a marvelous job - if what you need is an image backup - what do you mean it doesn't manage free space correctly?

Just thought I'd chime in with Macrium Reflect (Free) for backup images for operating systems that support volume shadow copy (Vista, 7 etc).
