Title: DIR-655 L2TP MTU
Post by: chillin on January 23, 2011, 07:33:06 PM
In the options, the L2TP MTU can only go up to 1400. However on my previous D-Link 524 it had an option of up to 1500. My ISP needs 1460.

Why does D-Link DIR-655 A4 FW1.35 limit me to just 1400 which slows down my internet a lot? Is there any way around this or to force 1460 MTU?

The 655 should support 1500. I wonder if it's doing an auto MTU for some reason. Should be able to input anything up to 1500. Try a different browser by chance?

Tried both IE8 and Google Chrome 10, same result:

"The MTU size is invalid (the permitted range is 128 to 1400)."

....

This doesn't make any sense. Someone mis-program something here?

Might call up DLink and ask them if this is the case. Standard MTU for most routers that I've worked with is 1500 Max. How long have you had the router? Any chance of a return to place of purchase?

I've had it for a few months now. Unfortunately I moved my country of residence, so no chance of returning the item :( .
