Hi, I saved up and purchased the DGL-4500 after reading reviews that it has the ability to sort of limit one type of data to give priority to another type of data.
My problem is this:
My roommate streams netflix/youtube all day in HD and all I do is play World of Warcraft.
I want to know how to properly set up the router and such so that I can stop lagging and "rubber banding" all over the instances.
Also, please let me know of any tips and tricks you know to bypass this issue. thank you in advanced

You can check out the gameing and gamefuel sticky for XBL.
DGL-4500 Gaming and Gamefuel for XBL (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10435.0)
You might have to set up gamefuel rules and set priorities for you and your roommate. Set his priority lower than yours.

Finally understood the reserved IP part and made all the changes recommended for the xbox(would they apply to pc games too?) The official dlink help says that 0 = highest priority
The priority of the message flow is entered here -- 0 receives the highest priority (most urgent) and 255 receives the lowest priority (least urgent).
The xbox one states to open ports 0 - 3792. Should I do that with wow also? Heres the ss so far:

How would I also add the blu ray player on the gamerfuel options with a 255 priority?

Its usually a better idea to not to set a priority to to anything under 40 otherwise your going to be starving bandwidth to the rest of your network with very little gain to the connection of concern. dd-wrt has some good papers writen on QoS and the subtlties. Also, its better to give different traffic coming from your PS3 different priorties. I go 5223 to priority 50, 3478 / 3479 to 55 and 3658 / 3658 to 60. Thats because 5223 is for its Multiplayer, while 3658 is just the authentication into PSN.

how do u know if you got game fuel working
also i dont think anything is happening with mines
i have port fowarding off
i have game fuel on just like the sticky
people on black ops seeing me before i even turn corners

Whats your ISP signal like?
What ISP service do you have?
Have you done some speedtest.net testing with and without the router being online?
Need to make sure the cabling coming in from the telephone poles or under ground is sound and set up well.
Possible other reason for seeing some lag is other people your playing with could be introducing the lag as well. Not just you.

Gamefuel is always working, can you do a speed test for me? If so go ahead to www.speedtest.net and than post the results here. If you have a bad ping you will most likely suffer in games like black ops due to time sensitive information not reaching its destination on time.

Is this correct?

Is this correct?
That is correct, please note you are directing all the bandwidth the router can get to "Wow" meaning it might cause a slight lag to all other devices. Other than that, its fine. I have also noticed that if you will be steaming videos via BP it might be rendered useless by setting it at 255, thats If there is no bandwidth to spare.
Those are not bad, Mhmm. What system are you playing COD on? You do realize COD Bops is a lagy game. Have you looked at the gaming Sticky topics and have followed the instructions?

Is this the speed your paying for?
Wast this test done with or with out the router?
Need to perform both tests to make sure they match up and the speeds are close.

Yea thats fine, thank you very much. As long as the BP is at the lowest priority while still given bandwidth (considering wow uses a tiny amount while netflix HD hogs it all). is fine.
I even purchased the Bigfoot Killer 2100 NIC to combat my lag, but this thing is a big waste of money as the integrated NIC sometimes performs better.

10 down 3 up
with the router
-
From this point and on, never believe when they tell you "buy this, it will make things faster" To a certain degree it will make it faster, but you have to remember you can only go as fast as your ISP wants you to go.

i understand the internet smoke and mirrors but wont that apply this so called gamefuel?
maybe if i separate my internet and cable comcast is one line coming into the house and verizon's on another
i already miss the speed of verizon :-\
-
I pay for 10Mb down and 1Mb up. I usually get that or around that with the router. I enjoy gaming and netflix. Some people need more I guess. I would like to have bit a more on the UP. Uploads seems to be getting more important these days.
-
i think im going to explore separating my internet from my cable.
to much on interference and networking happening on one line
wish it was some sort of proof or indicator from the router that it is working
side note
when i look at the logs it says i get alot of blocked incoming notificatins
you guys experience that?
-
I do get a lot of Blocked items. This is the router doing its' job.
